Turning archival footage and studio interviews into a polished success story.
Studio-made video case study for ICN NSW
The Brief
We want to do a video case study on the Maryvale Solar and Energy Storage Project, but the site’s well outside metro Sydney, and the budget won’t stretch to flying a crew out for fresh footage.
We can pair existing archival footage and b-roll with in-studio interviews from the supplier and someone from the ICN Network. That way, we won’t need to send a crew on site and can still land a premium, professional, studio-made video case study within budget.
The Solution
ICN NSW connects local business with opportunities across government and private sectors in the state. Regional managers across NSW work closely with businesses in their regions by championing local capability and helping suppliers secure a place on major projects. Through the ICN Gateway, Gentari Australia was able to secure the Maryvale Solar and Energy Storage Project.
Using existing footage supplied by the Maryvale team, we were able to secure b-roll without having to travel onsite. Pairing this with freshly recorded interviews from Gentari Australia’s Community Engagement Manager, ICN NSW’s Regional Manager, and Executive Director – we were able to create a premium video case study that highlighted the impact of this project to the local community.
The Result
The finished video case study reads as one continuous production. studio interviews and site footage sit together naturally, with no visible split between the two, and the piece proved to be an engaging way to share case studies across multiple channels, from newsletters to social media.
Since going live on ICN NSW’s Linkedin page, the video has performed above platform benchmarks. It drew strong engagement, click through rates, and positive overall watch time, with viewers holding attention well beyond the typical scroll. Proof that a smart, cost-effective approach to video case studies can still deliver premium results.
The Impact
ICN NSW walked away with a video study that looks and feels like a full site production, at the fraction of the cost and effort. They also gained a repeatable model. By using existing footage for the visuals and studio time for the interviews, they can apply this format to any success story across their network of suppliers and project owners.
It demonstrates a broader point. A strong video case study can be done without a crew on every site. All you need is footage already sitting in an obscure drive, and someone who isn’t too camera shy.
